From Everything on the Line to One Million Donors

Thirteen years ago, Globalfaces didn’t start with certainty. It started with belief.

The company began with a simple conviction that the nonprofit sector deserved better support. The founders left their jobs without a safety net and built the business from their homes, because that was what was possible at the time. Progress was slow and consistency took years to achieve.

Cash flow was uncertain in the early days. Personal finances were often stretched, and difficult decisions were made to ensure staff and fundraisers were paid on time. The work continued not because it was easy, but because there was confidence in the people doing the work, the partners being served, and the belief that face-to-face fundraising, when done responsibly, could create real value for charities.

This year marked a milestone that puts that journey into perspective.

One Million donors.

That number represents more than scale, it represents trust, tens of millions of real conversations, and more than one billion dollars directed to nonprofit missions across Canada and the United States. It’s proof that a model built on people, not shortcuts, works.

From the beginning, Globalfaces set out to professionalize face-to-face fundraising. The sector lacked technology, consistency, and accountability. Results weren’t always tied to opportunity. So the team built what didn’t exist: a custom technology platform, an in-house call center, and systems designed to support both fundraisers and nonprofit partners.

Those decisions changed everything. They allowed the organization to understand what was happening at the door, improve donor experience, and deliver stronger, more sustainable results for charities. Just as importantly, they created real career paths for fundraisers, not dead ends.

The values behind those early decisions haven’t changed.

This is still a people business. There is no product without humans on both sides of the conversation. Globalfaces has grown by treating people as partners, not widgets. By investing in training, mentorship, and opportunity. By building a culture where people don’t have to work here, they choose to.

Reaching one million donors also reflects the adaptability and grit of our team. Taking an organization from zero donors to thousands, then hundreds of thousands, requires constant reinvention. Mistakes are part of the process. Learning is non-negotiable. Growth only happens when people are willing to evolve together.

This past year was defined not just by numbers, but by collaboration. Canvassing teams, data, finance, customer success, and leadership working in sync. A clearer understanding that sustainable growth only happens when infrastructure, people, and partners move forward together.

A million donors is a moment worth pausing for. Not as an endpoint, but as proof of what’s possible when fundraising stays human.

Behind every door knocked was a choice. Behind every gift was a person. And behind this milestone is a team that never forgot what was at stake in the first place.

This story is best told in the voices of the people who lived it. Hear from Globalfaces CEO and Founder, Matthew Davison, as he reflects on the journey, the risks taken, and what reaching one million donors truly represents.
