Manager, financial reporting & accounting Toronto ROLE PROFILE The Manager, Financial Reporting & Accounting will serve as the operational engine of the finance department, reporting directly to the Director of Finance & Controller. As the Director’s key lieutenant, you will take hands-on ownership of the month-end close process – including reviewing reconciliations and journal entries while also leading the Financial Reporting and audit process. In addition to these responsibilities you will assist with Treasury and FP&A activities. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Month-End Close Month-End Close Execution: Lead and accelerate the month-end and year-end closing processes. Performing detailed reviews of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions etc. to ensure accuracy. Financial Statement Preparation: Own the end-to-end preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules and analysis across all business entities. Responsible for producing draft monthly/ quarterly financial reporting packages for review by the Director Audit Liaison: Act as the frontline project manager for external audits, preparing audit schedules, organizing workpapers, and directly addressing auditor inquiries. Tax Compliance Support: Gather and organize financial data to support sales tax, corporate tax, and regulatory filings in Canada/US in collaboration with tax advisors. Financial Operations Management Cash Operations: Oversee cash management activities, manage corporate credit policies, and monitor accounts payable/receivable processing. Budget vs. Actual Tracking: Compile monthly variance reports comparing actual financial results against the budget to support the Director’s broader FP&A initiatives. Team Leadership & Process Improvement Staff Supervision: Supervise, mentor, and review the work of accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous development. Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate workflows, ERP system functions, and automation tools to increase close efficiency and accuracy. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE Your Experience and Training: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is required. Minimum 3–4 years of experience within a public accounting firm (Audit/Assurance background is highly preferred). 1–2 years of subsequent accounting experience, ideally within a private company environment, with a proven track record of managing month-end close workflows and financial statement preparation.
